Harvey G. Mueller, 82, of
Round Rock, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. Known for a smile that could light up any room, Harvey lived by a simple, beautiful code: he never met a stranger, and he never found a bad word to say about anyone.
Born in
Victoria, Texas on September 17, 1943, to Edgar Mueller and Georgia Mae Mikeska, Harvey grew up with a heart for service and a natural gift for hard work. As a young man, he learned the value of a job well done while working in construction alongside his father, which sparked a lifelong passion for building and tinkering.
Those early years were filled with spirited adventures and a bit of mischief, while building memories alongside his many cousins, whom he was blessed to have so close to his own age. Whether he was working hard on a job site, spending time with loved ones, or cruising the roads in his beloved 1957 Chevy, Harvey's youth was defined by those deep, joyful family bonds. Harvey also proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967 before embarking on a distinguished 37+ year career with IBM. His professional journey included 13 years at NASA, where his incredible work ethic was legendary.
Harvey was a man who spoke through his hands. Whether it was building a chicken coop, installing light fixtures, or crafting custom cabinetry, he was the first to volunteer his skills. If you had a project, Harvey had the tools and the talent; if you had a problem, he had the kind ear and the time to listen.
In 2003, Harvey married his soulmate, Sharon, and together they turned the last two decades into a grand adventure. They explored all fifty states and set sail on fifteen cruises, often spending their weekends dancing the polka. When he wasn't on the road, he was a fixture of his community's social life, bowling for over forty years and engaging in weekly rounds of dominoes and cards where he was known as a true game-playing machine. He found great joy in simple pleasures with Sharon by his side, like a summer night spent at the ballpark watching the Round Rock Express, usually with the Astros game pulled up on his phone so he wouldn't miss a single play.
Above all his hobbies, Harvey was a professional father, grandfather and a devoted family man. He cherished the simple joy of regular lunches with his brother and his son, finding the best fellowship over a shared meal. For his daughter, he was the voice on the other end of the line at any and all hours of the day, always ready to answer the phone with a patient heart. He spent countless hours traveling to watch his grandchildren compete in rodeo, softball, dance, and volleyball. He didn't just show up; he was their biggest fan.
Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Sharon Mueller; his son Geoffrey, wife Monica, and grandchildren Owen and Willow of Austin; his daughter Stefanie, husband Doug, and grandchildren Jaida and Lylah of Frisco; his brother Rayburn and wife Barbara of Houston; his brother Roger and wife Colleen of Austin; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and the family he loved as his own including Sharon's son Scott Schmidt and daughter Stacy Herzog and their spouses, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Harvey's journey was one of constant motion, laughter, and service. He will be greatly missed, but every time a tool is picked up, a game is dealt, or a polka starts to play, his spirit will be right there in the middle of the fun.
A service to celebrate Harvey's life will be shared with family and friends at Palm Valley Lutheran Church in
Round Rock, Texas on Monday, March 9th at 2pm. A brief viewing will commence at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests making a donation in Harvey's memory to the
American Cancer Society or the Palm Valley Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
