Harvey "Harv" G. Peglow, age 86, of Owatonna, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on October 11, 1938, to the late Glen and Ella (Eaton) Peglow, Harv was born in Emmetsburg, IA. After graduating high school and attending a few semesters of college, Harv had decided to enlist into the United States Air Force in 1962, being stationed in California and serving his country until 1966.
After his honorable discharge, Harv stayed in California and went to work for a telephone company, where he would meet his future wife, Patricia. Harv married Pat Reed on February 25, 1967, in Carson City, NV, and would start their marriage living in California. After a few years, Harv and Pat returned to the Midwest and settled in Owatonna where they would grow their family with their two children, Scott and Jen.
Harv worked for AT&T for 33 years as a repairman for all things electronic. He never actually retired, as Harv was someone who always wanted to keep busy. Most people would say you could find him in his garage, working away on his woodworking projects, making anything you could think of: tables, cribbage boards, canes, picture frames, coasters, and even tissue boxes. Harv's woodworkings were meticulous in nature as he paid attention to even the finest details. His family will always remember the fishing and camping trips they would take to West Crooked Lake in Nevis, MN. Whenever Harv was in Bemidji, you would find him fishing on Long Lake, grouse hunting, and deer hunting. Harv also enjoyed spending time visiting the Owatonna VFW and American Legion to drink beer, shoot the bull with family and friends, and play pull-tabs.
During the times he spent with his family, Harv would reminisce on his childhood memories, always reminding his grandchildren about walking five miles to school every day. Most of these stories would include hunting before school each day with his sister, Bub. Harv spent many hours outdoors, enjoying nature.
Harv's biggest love was for his family, making each one of them their own piece of wood furniture that he would craft himself. He enjoyed spending time with his wife of 58 years, their children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren; family was the most important thing to Harv, followed by his and Pat's neighbors. Their neighbors were always looking out for Harv and Pat.
Harv is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Scott (Lori) Peglow of Owatonna and Jen (Terry) Condon of Bemidji; his grandchildren: Madison (Derek) Meyer, Megan (Ryan) Stewart, Zack (Allie) Condon, and Mackenzie Condon (Tanner Erler); great-grandchildren: Saylor, Ella, Carter, and soon to be baby boy Meyer; his sister, Helen Turpin; sister-in-law, Karen Peglow; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marilyn (Bill) English; brother, Jon Peglow; and brother-in-law, Jerry Turpin.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM (noon) on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Military honors and a light lunch will follow the service. Harv will be laid to rest at a later date at Aurora Lutheran Cemetery.
