Harvey Wallace Reinhardt, age 84, passed away peacefully at WakeMed Hospital on October 7, 2025.
Born on April 21, 1941, in Kinston, North Carolina, Harvey was the son of the late Joseph S. Reinhardt and Rubeye Williams Reinhardt. He grew up in Hillsborough, NC, where he attended Hillsborough High School and distinguished himself as a gifted athlete, earning 12 varsity letters-four each in football, baseball, and basketball.
Harvey continued his education at Chowan College from 1959 to 1961, where he played quarterback on the football team and left field on the baseball team, serving as co-captain of the football team in 1961. He later transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1964 with a degree in education.
A lifelong supporter of Chowan University, Harvey was inducted into the Chowan Hall of Fame in 1998 and served on the Board of Trustees until his passing.
Harvey began his professional career in the public school system, serving as a head coach, athletic director, and assistant principal. He was especially proud of founding Boy Scout Troop 200 in 1975 and serving as its Scoutmaster for a decade. He also coached little league football, achieving a remarkable 23-game winning streak.
In 1969, Harvey transitioned into the financial services industry, eventually founding his own company. In 1995, he relocated his business from Mt. Olive to Goldsboro, establishing H.W. Reinhardt & Co., where he served as an Investment Advisory Representative.
Harvey is survived by his longtime partner, Susan Perrine, and her daughter Allison Perrine Corsmeier (Brad), along with their children: Margaret Thomas Corsmeier, Ada Bradley Corsmeier, and Samuel Crawford Corsmeier. He is also survived by his sister Mary Roberts, brother-in-law Thomas Evans, former stepson Kenny Kirby, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Betty Reinhardt McClintock (Robert), Lucy Reinhardt Evans, and Joan Frances Reinhardt, as well as Susan's son, Tommy Richard Perrine, Jr.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Harvey's life at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. Dennis Goodwin officiating. A private inurnment for the family will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
