It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hattie Mae Poole, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on Tuesday, June 19th, 1934, in Camden, South Carolina, Hattie remained a lifelong resident of her cherished hometown.

Hattie was the valedictorian of Jackson High School's class of 1952, a testament to her dedication and love for learning. She went on to work for E.I. DuPont at the May Plant, where she dedicated 29 years of service in the Salt and Flake department before retiring.

Hattie was a woman of many talents and interests. She found joy in playing Bingo, solving jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and watching game shows. Her love for cooking was well-known, especially her famous Chocolate Checker-Board cake and Banana Nut Bread. She also enjoyed sewing and crafting, often making clothes for her children when they were young.

A devoted member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Hattie served her church community with unwavering commitment. She was active in the usher ministry and the Senior Group where she was a past leader, always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed.

Hattie leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her son, Tracy Bennett (Toni) of Camden, South Carolina; four daughters, Linda Hagins (Jeremiah) of Columbia, South Carolina, Vanessa Belton (Gilbert) of Columbia, South Carolina, Julia Poole (Randolph) of Camden, South Carolina, and Cathy Bennett (Brandon) of the home. She is also survived by her two sisters, Daisy Caulley of Camden, South Carolina, and Ella Williams of Plano, Texas; her sister-in-love, Ethel Dixon of Camden, South Carolina; her daughter-in-law, Freda Bennett of Charlotte, North Carolina; nineteen grandchildren, and thirty-six great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves behind three sisters-in-law, Gladys Wood (Charles), Patricia Redmond (James), and Roberta DeWitt (Cecil); and two brothers-in-law, Richard Bennett (Shirley) and Leroy Bennett (Susie).

Hattie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Poole; her parents, Elliott and Louise Brevard; her son, Michael "Ricky" Bennett; her grandson, Tracy "Trey" Bennett, Jr.; and her brother, Elliott Brevard, Jr.
