Aberdeen – Helen "Haysie" H. Huston, nee Hamilton, was born on in Brooksville, Kentucky, Sunday March 30, 1941, and passed into the Lord's arms on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. She was 83. Haysie was preceded in death by her daughter Lynne Huston Schreiber; parents Herbert H. and Helen Chain Hamilton; and brother-in-law, Jerry Thatcher.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Huston; grandson, Andrew Schreiber; granddaughter, Kacee Huston; great-granddaughters, Kylee & Reavyn; siblings Virginia (Craig) Courtney, Terry (Susan) Hamilton, David (Debbie) Hamilton, Melanie Thatcher, and Leanne (Bill) Leonard; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved fur baby of 14 years, Sophie Lee, her constant companion.
Haysie graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1959 and a few years later married and moved to Columbus. Haysie was a stay-at-home mom until the time her daughters were in school, then deciding to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. She began her new journey at Executive Caterers where she learned her craft, then moved to Hilton Inn and eventually landed at the Holiday Inn at Ohio State University. She worked there until she was diagnosed with lung cancer which ended her career.
After a tough treatment battle, God graced her with the blessing of remission. She made the decision to move back to her childhood home and to the town she loved, Aberdeen.
Over the years she enjoyed spending time with family and friends and renovating her home. Unfortunately, as time passed, the complications of Chemo and radiation took a toll on her. She began slowing down and faced other health issues.
Haysie, a member of Aberdeen Baptist church, loved the Lord, her family, friends and her Sophie Lee. She was prepared to enter God's Kingdom, and while her family already misses her, we know she's in heaven, reunited with her daughter she lost so many years ago, and all of the others who went before her, dancing and smiling. God is good.
Her family would like to acknowledge Haysie's wonderful caregivers who provided excellent care to her in her final years. Helen, Naomi, Beverly and Donna, thank you for loving her as much as we did.
Services for Helen "Haysie" Huston will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2025, at Brell & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Charter Oak Cemetery.
