Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home - Baton RougeHazel Ann Arbour was born on March 7, 1936 to Leon Pierre and Matilda A. "Tillie" (Friedrichs) Bordelon and passed away peacefully at Corn Heritage Village on March 15, 2026 in Corn, Oklahoma.
Hazel was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. One of her favorite pastimes was rollerskating. It was at the rollerskating rink that she met the love of her life, John Kenneth Arbour. When asked about him, she would respond with how handsome he was and how he had the most beautiful blue eyes. Hazel and Kenneth were married on April 24, 1954 at the First Lutheran Church in Baton Rouge, while Hazel was a Senior in high school and right before Kenneth went into the Army. Hazel then graduated high school on June 2, 1954.
After the military, the couple welcomed 5 children - Arlene, Shari, John Kenneth, Jr. "Bo", Brian and Laura. Kenneth began working for Texaco and moved the family from state to state. Traveling to Baton Rouge was always a priority no matter where they lived, Kenneth had a large family and Hazel loved being a part of it. Along the way, the family met the Teagues and the Flamings with whom they remained lifelong friends.
Hazel was a stay-at-home mom up until the family moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma. At the time, she had 2 high-schoolers in the home and began working in the high school cafeteria. She also worked for the Weatherford First Baptist Church on Wednesday nights. After the death of Kenneth, Hazel started work at Walmart. She was hired to be the voice on the intercom because they liked her Louisiana accent. Hazel was always recognized by students and customers when she was out shopping around town.
She enjoyed traveling with family, reading, watching Murder She Wrote and doing jigsaw puzzles. Of all of her accomplishments, Hazel was most proud of her huge family she created and would often tell people all about them.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Leon Pierre, Jr. and grandson, Clayton Wade (9/21/1984 - 2/29/2004).
She is survived by her daughter, Arlene Betty and husband, Max; daughter, Shari Wanzer and husband, Randy; son, John Kenneth Jr. "Bo" Arbour and wife, Christie; son, Brian Arbour and wife, Beverly; daughter, Laura Arndt and husband, Dave.
