Hazel Romaine (Hippensteel) Baker, 92, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Claude W. Baker who passed August 13, 1973.

Hazel was born May 5, 1933 in Conewago Twp. Adams County, PA. The daughter of the late Charles Hippensteel. Sr. and Stella (Becker) Hippensteel.

Hazel was a housewife and a babysitter to numerous children. Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren.

Hazel is survived by her daughters Barbara Ruiz of Hanover and Nancy Crushong of Abbottstown, her sons Steve Hippensteel of New Oxford, James Baker (Christine) of Hanover, Robert Baker, Sr. (Christina) of Gettysburg, Melvin Baker (Brooke) of Hanover, Franklin Baker of York, George Baker (Lori Jo) of Hanover, a sister Jean Treadway of Hanover, fifteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren.

Hazel was preceded in death by a son John H. Baker, grandsons Robert (Bobby) Baker, Jr., William (Billy) Baker, and great grandson Michael (Mikey) Peterson, Jr., brothers Lloyd (Bud), Charles Jr. (Jerry), Ted, and Donald Hippensteel, sisters Delores Rinehart, Ruth Shrader, Dorothy Surrency.

A special thank you to George and Lori Jo Baker with whom she resided.

Our heart felt thanks and gratitude to Harmoni Miller for her excellent care that she gave to her grandmother.

Hazel will be sadly missed by her constant companions her grand dogs Annabelle Grace and Brewster Chair.

Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. The John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.2114 W. Market St. York, PA is assisting with arrangements.
