Catharine "Katie" (Althoff) Randle, 94, passed away peacefully early morning, Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in her apartment at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Sprenkle Drive. She was a lifelong Catholic and member of St. Patrick's Church.
Katie was the loving wife of Benjamin, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Leo, Ben, Jim and Tom Althoff; and sister Liz Saltzgiver. She leaves behind two sisters, Josie Flinchbaugh of Wyomissing and Marty Winter of Allen, Michigan.
Katie's unconditional love for her family was always returned and she was surrounded by love and affection during her lifetime. Her family will cherish her forever. Daughters - Pat White and Ty (deceased) of York; Teresa Heede and Steve of Mesa, Arizona; Kathy Butler and Bill (deceased) of Hailey, Idaho; Cindy Davidson and Rich of Kirkwood; and Ben Randle and April of York. Grandkids - Tim (Teresa) Wallick; Tess (Lena) Pinard; Brad (Sherry Reid) Wallick; Greg (Angie) Sohnleitner; Curtis (Katee) Randle; and Derrick (Charlotte) Randle. Great grandkids - Evan, Joe, Blythe, Tanner, Tyler, Teagan, Adyn, Layla, Alexis, Emma, Jace, Scot, and Casey.
Katie and Ben provided a loving home in Pleasureville for their kids and grandkids, where neighbors took care of each other and each other's kids. Her favorite times were always with family for special events and holidays. Early in life, she liked camping and going to the shore. Later on, Katy enjoyed annual trips to New York City for Broadway shows and lunch with her family. She collected owls and liked watching birds, game shows and sports. Katie was an avid gardener and loved spending time on her porch swing. She was one of the first female bus drivers for Central York School District. She faced many challenges and changes over the years with grace, humor and a little stubbornness.
The family would like to thank the wait staff at Central Family Restaurant, Marino's, Culhane's Steakhouse and The Great American Saloon, all who gave her special treatment and sometimes called her "mom."
Thanks to the many doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals who helped her over the years. Also thanks to the staff of SpiriTrust Lutheran, Visiting Angels and Hospice and Community Care, who took such good care of her and showed her amazing compassion in her final days.
A visitation will be held from 12-1:00pm Saturday, October 4, 2025 at John W. Keffer Funeral Home, 2114 West Market St. York. The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm. Burial will be private for family.
