Hazel V. Dietzler, nee McGuinness, Baptized into the hope of Christ's Resurrection on Friday March 22, 2024, at the age of 95. Beloved wife of and reunited with the late Frederick C. Dietzler; devoted mom of son Fred (Judy) Dietzler; cherished grandma of Christina (Richard) Worth and Jeff (Kelly) Dietzler; blessed great-grandma to Rylee and Camden Worth; dear sister to her late brothers Peter Howard (Mary) and George Jr. (Rose); treasured daughter of her late parents George Sr. and Jennie, nee Duke, McGuinness. Hazel is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

Hazel was born on a chilly winter day to her Irish parents in January 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, a place that she held close and dear throughout her long life. While she was working in the office for Reader's Digest, Hazel met her husband, Frederick. The two began their family, which would continue to grow, as did Hazel's love. She loved being with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. A wonderful storyteller, Hazel always had something new, exciting, or wise to share with her loved ones. Since leaving the publishing company and dedicating her life to family, Hazel shared her amazing and memorable cooking skills in addition to her stories. But when Hazel did take a night off from cooking, she could more than likely be found at Cracker Barrel, her favorite restaurant.

In addition to her family, Hazel would also share her gifts of presence and wisdom with her community. She was an active member of her Church Parish and touched many lives during her times spent at Mass and other celebrations. Throughout her life, Hazel took great pride in her Irish heritage as well as her love of New York. She cherished visits from family in New York, including the DAD girls-- Debbie, Deana, Darrie, and Diane Dietzler.

Hazel will be remembered as a 95-year old Rockstar who will be missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to American Cancer Society or Humane Society of Missouri.

A visitation for Hazel will be held Wednesday March 27, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County Chapel, 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. St. Louis, MO 63129. Her funeral service will take place the following morning, March 28, at 11:15, also at the funeral home. Following her service, Hazel will be interred in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with her beloved husband, the late Frederick.
