On July 16,1942, a "Jewel" was born to Mr. Rubin and Mrs. and Rebecca Rhue in Marion, South Carolina. As the youngest of seven children, Dr. Page was educated in the Marion County Public School District in Marion, South Carolina and graduated from Johnakin High School in 1959. During her High School years, Dr. Page was known as the famous "cookie seller." It was during these formative years that she met the love of her life, the "bus driver," Liston Page. He would purchase cookies every day, for just one cent each, and tell her to "keep the change". The two later married on May 29,1959. To their union, three children were born: Wanda, Liston Jr., and Darren.
The Page family migrated from Marion, South Carolina to Baltimore, Maryland and joined Highway Church of Christ, under the leadership of their uncle, the late Bishop Fred Page. It was there where Dr. Hazel Page received the gift of the Holy Ghost, in 1959. In 1960, The Lord directed her husband, Minister Liston Page Sr., to relocate to New York, New York where they joined the Highway Christian Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Jessie V. Lomax. They later realigned with the Highway Churches of Christ, she where she served as the National Coordinator for the Northern District Rallies, National Women's President, National Financial Secretary and a National Recording Artist leading songs such as the famous "I Am The Way", "Amazing Grace" and "I Love Jesus" under the leadership of the late Bishop Raymond F. Davis. Dr. Page was well known for leading songs like "Walk around heaven", "Use Me Lord", "Anchor By and By", "How Tedious and Tasteless", "Have Thine Own Way", "Right Now If You Believe", "God is Able", "Climbing Up The Mountain", "I Really Love The Lord" and almost any hymn.
"Lift your hands and say, Yes Lord!"
In 1964, Dr. Hazel Page served with her husband as they furthered their assignments. Dr. Hazel Page and Bishop Liston Page, Sr. founded The Highway Church of Christ, 211 East 115th St. New York, New York. In the early 1970's, the Lord called Dr. Hazel Page to preach the gospel. She preached her initial sermon, "Plumb the Line" (Amos 7:7-15) at Holy Tabernacle, in the Bronx, New York, under the late Bishop Robert and Hazel Green. In 1982, the church moved into the now, Headquarters Church, Greater Highway Deliverance Temple, 132 East 111th St., New York, New York where she served as the Church Organist, Choir Director, Radio Broadcast Announcer, Ministerial President, New Members Class Instructor, Financial Secretary, Seamstress and the First Lady.
As the Lord expanded the ministry, alongside her husband, Dr. Hazel Page was very influential with founding the Highway Church of Christ, 98 Broadway,
Paterson, New Jersey. A few years after, the church relocated to a larger and current facility, 371 10th Ave,
Paterson, New Jersey, now known as, The Highway Church. Dr. Page served faithfully until the change of guards to the current Pastor, Bishop Liston Page Jr. She also served Utica, New York and Charleston, South Carolina as the Transitional Leader. In 1993, the Lord directed Bishop Liston Page, Sr. to form and establish the Greater Highway Deliverance Ministries, stretching beyond the United States of America into Jamaica, West Indies, Canada, India and Africa. She served as an Executive Board Member, Overseer of Women's Department and International First Lady. Dr. Hazel Page was also a member of the Joint College of African American Pentecostal Bishops (JCOB).
Dr. Hazel Page had the grace, tenacity and strength to be a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Dr. Page was the heart of her home and the backbone of the ministry. Her service was both tireless and multifaceted. She is known for her Saint John suits and Jack McConnell hats. She is also known for her famous southern cooking and baking. Whatever the Lord placed in her hands, she did it with excellence, humility, and love. Dr. Page's wisdom, compassion, and dedication, left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered, inspiring and encouraging people of all ages across the United States, and other countries. Her strength, grace, and unwavering support exemplified the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31.
Dr. Page graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University earning a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. She furthered her education and earned her Master's Degree and Doctorate Degree in Sacred Letters. She worked for Pepsi Cola as an Accountant until retirement. Following her retirement, Dr. Page embarked upon a new chapter of purpose, establishing The Highway Christian Academy in 1989, with the help of her daughter, Wanda. At the Academy, Dr. Page not only provided employment opportunities for parishioners from Greater Highway Deliverance Temple of New York and The Highway Church of Paterson but provided hope for the community at large.
