Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Hazel Fredrickson Peterson, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Maple Springs Assisted Living in Brigham City, Utah.
She was born on May 26, 1935 in Roosevelt, Utah, a daughter of William Durrell and Frances Delores Howell Fredrickson. She was reared and educated in Roosevelt, Utah.
She married her sweetheart, Aaron “Pete” Peterson on March 21, 1958 in Uintah, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple on May 8, 1978. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2016.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in Relief Society Presidency, Young Women's Laurel leader, Den Mother, Stake Young Adults leaders with her husband Pete.
Hazel worked at Medical Arts Clinic in Brigham City, Utah and retired in 2002.
She belonged to Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Hazel loved sewing and Swedish weaving, loved painting when she moved to Maple Springs, mostly being with her family.
The family would like to thank Maple Springs for their love, care and fun they provided Hazel for the last 14 years, she lived at Maple Springs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; her parents, one brother, Keith Fredrickson, three sisters, Ina Jean Thompson; Marlene Rhoe; Laura Lee Middleton and one great granddaughter, Nevaeh Wilkes.
Surviving are her four children: Lola Jean (Dale) Bolton of Logan; Lani (Kirk) Secrist of Harper Ward; Robin (Grant) Singleton of Brigham City; and Aaron “Rick” Peterson of Willard; 13 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Delores Harless; Margaret Galley.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E 200 S., Brigham City, Utah with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Honeyville City Cemetery following her services.
