INMAN, SC – Hazel Lucille Rogers, age 80, of Inman, SC, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at her home.
Ms. Rogers was born on September 29, 1945, in Buncombe County and was a resident there for much of her life. She worked as a supervisor at various manufacturing plants, including Richmount from which she retired. Hazel was a collector of many treasures. She loved playing bingo, tending to her immaculate flower beds, and sharing smiles with everyone she met. Her garden never had a weed in sight, and neither did her heart—only beauty, warmth, and grace. She has resided in Inman, SC for the past 25 years, and she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Campobello, SC.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Penland; step-father, Red Penland; sister, Emma Buckner; brothers, Steve Penland, and Wayne Penland; and her grandparents who raised her, Nellie and Gus Rogers.
Left to cherish her memory is her lifelong friend of nearly 60 years, Gail Buckner, whose friendship was a true testament to love and loyalty; niece, Lindsey Crigger and husband Ben and their children, Kasen, Rhett, and Harlee; nephews, Eric Parham and his partner Aaron Boncoski, Larry Teasley and wife Stacy and their children, Aaron Teasley, Kendra Teasley, and Samantha Deckrow and husband Michael, and Darrell Teasley and wife Lorena and their children Haley, Jacob, and Lucas; and sister, Judy Revis.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, October 16, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, NC 28787 with Rev. Larry Rogers and Rev. Lanny Cobb officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m., prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Hazel will be laid to rest with her family in Clark’s Chapel Cemetery, 25 Clark’s Chapel Rd., Weaverville, NC 28787. The family will be at the home of Larry and Stacy Teasley after the graveside service.
