Hazel C. Rudniak, age 96, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 15, 2024.
Hazel was born in Barnwell, SC to the late Annie (Williams) Carter and William H. Carter. Hazel lived in Wilmington, DE for most of her years. She worked at DuPont for a short while and eventually retired from Thrift Drug as a cashier after 20 years of dedication. Hazel had many hobbies and activities she loved. Some of her favorites were feeding birds and tending to her flowers in her yard that she loved dearly. Hazel was also a long-time parishioner of St. John the Beloved where she regularly attended mass. All in all, Hazel had a very wonderful life.
In addition to her parents, Hazel is predeceased by her husband Stanley J. Rudniak; her siblings Marjorie Farrell, Hattie Rudniak and William R. Carter; nephew Joseph Thielemann; and special friend Raymond L. Kosek. She is survived by her nieces Polly C. Pusey (David) of Laurel, DE, Phyllis M. Thielemann of New Castle, DE, Diane Doane of Felton, DE; and her special friend who took care of her for many years Aletta Shrewsbury.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, from 11:00AM to 12:00PM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00PM. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19808.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations in Hazel's name to Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713.
