Hazel Wilson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory - Owensboro on Aug. 26, 2024.
Hazel Hagerman Wilson, 93, of Owensboro, passed away on August 24, 2024, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born or May 15, 1931, in Utica, Kentucky, to the late Roy Hagerman and Myrtle Myles Hagerman. Hazel graduated from Owensboro Technical High School in 1950. She was a stay-at-home mom when her daughters were young, volunteering in their activities at church and Girl Scouts. She later became co-owner of Alice's Stout Shop and eventually retired from Mr. "E" Boutique. Her sweet personality and sense of style were very much appreciated by her many customers.
Hazel was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. Her faith was very important to her, as was evident in her kindness, acceptance, and generosity. She liked watching Christian TV shows, Wheel of Fortune, and UK basketball. She especially loved spending time with her family. In earlier years, Hazel enjoyed playing cards with longtime friends; Elizabeth, Ollie, Pat, and Violet. In recent times, she loved going to the beauty salon and lunch on Fridays with her special friend, Willow Mae.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Wilson; brothers, Carroll Hagerman and Gerald Hagerman; sisters, Lodene Hayden, Regina Jennings, and Wanda Lee Hagerman; and granddaughter, Jennifer Thompson.
She is survived by daughters, Brenda Zuerner and Pam Thompson (Jeff); grandchildren, Ross Thompson (Becca), Emily Zuerner, Holly Mayer (Taylor), and Jacob Zuerner (fiancé, Mary Katherine Edge); great-grandchildren, Jax Zuerner, Ellie Fisher, Hattie Mayer, and Louis Mayer; and many other special family members.
Hazel's funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
