It is overwhelming sadness to share that the world has lost one of its most precious angels on earth. Hazel Carmack Wilson went to Heaven on February 5, 2026, to be with the Lord and to be reunited with her beloved family members there.

Born on April 19, 1923, to the late Edith Belle Cutten Carmack and Fred D Carmack, Hazel lived most of her life in Chattanooga. She was a 1941 graduate of Central High School. With a heart as big as the universe itself, she brought joy to the lives of everyone who knew her. There was no sweeter person on earth. She always had a kind word to go with her heart-warming smile.

Hazel loved to be creative. She and her mother would bake beautiful (and delicious) weddings cakes for those events at their church. She sewed lovely dresses for her daughter and was always eager to help her two precious ones with arts and crafts projects for school. Her interest in beautiful things extended to the garden. Wherever she lived, she was a member of that neighborhood garden club. But most of all she loved to bake, especially her delicious thumbprint cookies for any celebration and her rum cakes to give at Christmas. She will be missed by so many.

In addition to late her parents, Hazel is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Bond Wilson, Sr; and her brothers: William Marion Carmack, Harold Horton Carmack, Fred D Carmack, Jr., and Richard Eugene Carmack.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Barnes Callahan and Howard Bond Wilson, Jr.; her grandson, Ian Alexander Baker; and her niece and nephew, Jennifer Carmack Brodnax (Justin) and Richard Eugene Carmack, Jr. (Kerri).

A Celebration of Life will be held for her at First-Centenary United Methodist Church on March 14, 2026, at 1:00pm.
