Mary Ellen Fitzpatrick

Mary Fitzpatrick, 86, of Bridgeport, Alabama, and formerly of Lafayette, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on February 27, 2026, with her son, Randy Johnson, and his companion, Jennifer L. Wolfe, by her side.

Mary was born on May 31, 1939, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Jack and Sally Johnson. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, warm heart, and wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to those around her. Mary enjoyed attending services at Linwood Baptist Church in Lafayette, Georgia. She especially loved spending time outdoors in the summertime and had a special fondness for animals, particularly her chihuahua-Maya.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Johnson; her children, Paul "Tony" Johnson, Peggy Goins, and Debbie Kalmert; and her siblings, Mae Blake, Jack Johnson, Betty Lynn, Ralph Johnson, and Ricky Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Randy Johnson (Jennifer L. Wolfe), Sandra K. Goins, and Mary "Ann" Teems; her sister, Carolyn Holbrook; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Alabama for the compassionate care shown to Mary over the past several months. Special thanks are given to CNA Deb, RN Kristi, social worker Kim, and the entire hospice staff for their love, care, and dignity during this time.

A graveside service will be held at Lafayette City Cemetery in Lafayette, Georgia 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 4, 2026 with Dr. Jon Alverson officiating.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge in Rossville, Georgia.
