Hazie Lee Evans

Funeral services for Hazie Evans, 89 of Doak Springs, Texas, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings, Texas with Rev. John Perez officiating. Burial will follow in the Copperas Cemetery in Doak Springs. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
Hazie's sunrise was on August 12, 1935 in Doak Springs, Texas the daughter of Vernon and Mary (Alberts) Fillmore. She was one of four children. Hazie graduated from high school in Doak Springs and went on to hold many different jobs. She worked as a staff manager for the State School in Austin. She was a Physician's Assistant at St. David's in Austin for a while. She was a daycare provider, a beautician and a homemaker. She was united in holy matrimony to Arie Lee Evans Sr. in1957 and to this union they were blessed with three children. Hazie was an active member of the Solid Rock Missionaries Baptist Church in Austin for most of her life before her health forced her to stay home. Before her decline in health, you could always find Hazie fishing whenever she had the chance. Her love for fishing is something that she shared and passed down to her children. She was a very caring and loving woman who would help anyone in need. Over the years it was her caring heart that caused many people she helped and cared for to call her family.

Waiting to greet her with open arms are her husband, Arie Evans Sr.; her parents, Vernon and Mary Fillmore; her infant daughter, Baby Evans; and her three siblings, Rosie and George Bonner, Alveary and Ernest Wright, and Adell Arnold.
Hazie leaves to mourn her passing her children, Arie Evans Jr. and Victoria Rivers of Doak Springs, and Karil Evans and Cesar Galvan of Doak Springs; six grandchildren, Takeitha Sistrunk of Austin, Janelle Robertson of Austin, Sharmet Bonner of Austin, Arie Evans III of South Dakota, Glenda Bonner of Doak Springs, and Alise Evans of Ausitn; one brother-in-law, James Arnold of Austin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Whitaker, Allen Bonner, Cesar Galvan, Sirron Daris, Arie Evans III, and Timothy Francis. Honorary pallbearers are Duane Fillmore and Kevin Bonner.
A gratitude of thanks is extended to the Covert family. The family would like to thank all the many friends and family for the visits, the phone calls, prayers, flowers, and kind words at our time of bereavement.
A special thank you to the staff of Hospice Brazos Valley. The family would also like to thank Bonnie Evans for her continued love and support.
To our beloved mother, you had a way of loving your birthday parties, but all your family and friends arrived at your departure.
