David “Heath” Rogers, 48, was born August 24, 1975 in Bountiful, Utah to David “Alan” and Jolene Rogers.  Heath passed away peacefully from Acute Myeloid Leukemia with his family by his side on October 4, 2023.

Heath was raised in Clearfield, Utah and attended Clearfield High School where he graduated in 1993.  He was a starter on the Clearfield High School football team which won the 1992 State Championship. Heath was involved in many sports while growing up including football, basketball and baseball.  After graduation he met his best friend Stacie Ann Schofield. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 24, 1994.  Heath and Stacie lived in Clearfield, Roy, and then settled in Syracuse in 2003. Together they raised four children: Skylee, Ty, Brooklyn, and Brynlee.

Heath grew to love the community of Syracuse where he lived and served by coaching, volunteering on community council, and working for the Syracuse City Police Department for the last 26 years.  At the time of his passing he was serving as the Assistant Chief of Police. He was very loved and respected by his law enforcement family.  He considered them a second family.

As a physical fitness instructor at the Weber State Law Enforcement Academy for the past 18 years, his legacy will always be remembered as he influenced hundreds of cadets, many of whom are still working as law enforcement officers in various agencies throughout the state.

He went to school while raising his kids and working full time, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 2013. He also graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy in 2018.

Heath had a strong testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His faith never wavered even during hard times. He served faithfully in many callings including Sunday School teacher, Ward Clerk, and Elders Quorum presidency. He most recently served as a Young Men’s leader, which he loved because he was a boy at heart.

Heath loved all things baseball, and his true love was supporting the Los Angeles Dodgers. On days the Dodgers would play, Heath would decorate the family room of his house and would wear all his Dodgers gear.  The family enjoyed going to Major League Baseball stadiums and he had visited 24 of the 30 stadiums with a goal to attend all.  His hope was that the family will make it to the remaining six stadiums to complete his bucket list for him. The family made annual trips to Arizona to watch Spring training baseball games. His family enjoyed playing baseball in their backyard together where Heath had mowed a baseball diamond in the grass (aka Rogers Stadium). He was a TRUE fan of baseball but also loved football, especially the Dallas Cowboys.  He also loved traveling with his family, running, hiking, and doing anything that involved a competition.

Heath is survived by his wife Stacie; four children: Skylee (Kaden) King, Ty, Brooklyn, and Brynlee; two grandchildren: Berklee and Koa King; parents Alan and Jolene; and siblings: Ryan (Misti) Rogers, Devin (Haley) Rogers, Kallie (Bryce) Lindgren, and Drew Rogers.  Heath also leaves behind Father and Mother in-law Rocky (Jana) Schofield; and in-laws: Billy (Lisa) Schofield, Jason (Annie) Felix, Tamalee (Adam) Palmer, Quinn Schofield, and Ryne (Tacy) Schofield, as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was proceeded in death by his grandparents Dan and Myrlene Rogers and George and Melba Wahlen; sister Heather Rogers (infant); nephew Jaydon Rogers; as well as two cousins Brody Anderson and Brant Wahlen.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023, at 11 am at the Syracuse Bluff Stake Center.  The family would like to invite all law enforcement officers attending the funeral services to wear department uniform.

Friends may visit with family, Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 5pm to 8pm at Lindquist's Syracuse Mortuary, (869 S 2000 W Syracuse, Utah), and on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Syracuse Bluff Stake Center (2339 W 1900 S Syracuse, Utah). Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at LDS Hospital and Intermountain Health Care, specifically the Layton Infusion Clinic, Home Health Care, and Hospice.
