Heather Ann Piersol Ahr, of
Castroville, Texas, passed away peacefully with family by her side on October 23, 2025 at the age of 61. She was born June 15, 1964 in Glen Cove, New York, to Darrell Thomas Piersol and Barbara Lou Bricmont Piersol.
Heather attended Byram Hills High School in Armonk, New York, where she excelled in their vocational culinary arts program. She graduated from Edinburg High School in Texas. Heather was active in choir throughout her high school years and always loved to sing. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics degree from Southwest Texas State University in 1986. She began a 33-year career teaching pre-K and kindergarten, 31 of which were at Medina Valley ISD where she practiced her special gift for working with children. She always said the most rewarding part of her job was when a parent would thank her for doing so much for their child or when past students would come up to her and say she was the best teacher they ever had.
Heather and Lonny fell in love on a college sponsored snow skiing trip to Steamboat Springs, Colorado and married on May 21, 1988 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. They were blessed with 37 years of marriage, son Cody, daughter Cheyenne, their loving spouses, and four grandchildren. Being a wife, mother, and grandmother brought her the deepest joy. She was their biggest fan, always cheering them on, celebrating their victories, and lifting them up through challenges. She showed them and everyone around her what unconditional love and devotion truly looked like.
After retiring in 2020, Heather enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her four treasured grandchildren, Haevyn, Lane, Halle, and Kade to whom she is affectionately known as "Nani". She cherished family gatherings, baking, crafting, reading, dancing and country living. Traveling the country with Lonny was part of her retirement plans. In June of this year, between numerous doctor appointments and treatments, they enjoyed a long-awaited, three-week, memorable RV trip to Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, The Grand Tetons, and Arches National Park.
Heather and Lonny's love was a true love unmatched by any other. Sometimes he would lead and she would follow. Sometimes she would lead and he would follow. Heather's favorite saying, framed on their kitchen wall, simply reads, "…and so together they built a life they loved."
Survivors include her husband, Lonny Ahr of Castroville; children, Cody Ahr (Hannah) of Leakey and Cheyenne McCrummen (Luke) of Granbury; grandchildren, Haevyn McCrummen, Lane McCrummen, Halle Ahr and Kade McCrummen; mother, Barbara Piersol of San Marcos; brother, Mark Piersol (Stephanie) of San Marcos; sister, Laurel Piersol (partner Steve Bard) of McKinney; brothers-in-law, Leroy Ahr (Linda) of Jacksonville, Florida and Lindy Ahr (Maureen) of Castroville; sister-in-law, Colleen Wilton of La Coste; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Heather was preceded in death by her father, Darrell Thomas Piersol, parents-in-law, Eunice and Quintin Ahr, and brother-in-law, Jeff Wilton.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 8th, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Schattenbol, 2374 US Hwy 90 East, Castroville Texas, with the Holy Rosary recited at 2:30 p.m. followed by the eulogy and celebration of life.
