Heber “Mark” Simonton Bohn passed into his Heavenly Father’s hands on October 22, 2023. Born in Driggs, Idaho in 1933 to Heber “Ed” and Nellie “Helen” Bohn, Mark grew up during the depression era and from that experience he knew how to make things stretch and the value of being self-sufficient. As a child he was known to sneak in to “sample” the family’s supply of pickles, just part of the 400 jars of food his parents canned to ensure the family always had enough to eat during those hard years.

Mark lived many places during his life and worked in many careers. This included a move when he was six to Colorado where he spent most of his childhood, then on to honorable service in the Navy including during the Korean War where he served on a submarine. After that he lived in Arkansas where his family had moved and then later on to Washington before eventually, in semi-retirement, moving to live first in Oklahoma and then finally back in Arkansas. His professions spanned from selling calculators, working at nuclear power plants, supervising construction projects, and many more.

Serving others was how Mark showed his love of Christ, whether it was offering gardening advice, guiding people on repairs and construction, or offering encouraging words. He touched many lives through four decades of volunteer service coaching youth soccer teams. Through his faithful membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mark served in many church callings including completing six years in a service mission working on genealogical records to help enable families to make connections to their loved ones who came before.

Our beloved dad, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend loved his large family and was always teaching them about his love for the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was quick to offer a hug and a kiss, say “I love you”, and try to visit and spend time with all. His greatest hope for the future was for his children to stay close to each other and to come to understand Christ’s love and plan for each one of them.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents Heber and Helen, as well as his brother Jim. He is survived by his siblings: Otto (Susy), Cynthia (Jackie), Phil (Linda), Susan (Bill), Perry (Kay); his nine children: Karen (Shawn), Leonelle (Ronnie), Mark (Chris), Stephen (Crystal), Aura Lee (Jimmie), Trace (Kristen), Briona (Jason), Dev (Arelis), Chelsea (Nate) brought into his life through his marriages to Carolyn Sue Harrison and Laurie Rae St.Clair; as well as 27 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Mark requested consideration of donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
