Hedwig "Heddy" Rieder (formerly Mlakar nee Stopar), age 89, of Willowick, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on June 3, 2025. Born on March 21, 1936, in Euclid, Ohio, to the late John and Justina Stopar. Heddy's life was a radiant testament to family, faith, and community.
She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Heddy is survived by her loving children: Al (Celeste) Mlakar, Bruce (Marilyn) Mlakar, Mark Mlakar, Lori (Pat) Taylor, and Dennis (Susan) Rieder, along with her grandchildren: Christy Curtis, Alexis Kulbacki, Fr. Jacob Mlakar, Nicholas Mlakar, Joanne (Kalen) Green, Remi Taylor, Lauren Taylor, Rachel (Joe) DeLisio, Tim (Chris) Rieder, DJ (Laura) Rieder, Lindsey (Mike) Nelson, and Jeff (Laura) Nalepka and many dear great grandchildren. Heddy's spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Heddy's life was enriched by her strong faith and devotion as a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Magdalene, where she actively participated in various church activities. Heddy loved to travel and attend the Cleveland Indians/Guardians baseball games or watch them on TV.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Tony Mlakar and George Rieder, her son Brian Mlakar, stepdaughter Jeannie Balogh, and her 7 siblings.
Mass of Christian Burial for Heddy will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 10:30am at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St, Willowick, OH 44095. A visitation will take place on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 2pm till 6pm at Monreal Srnick Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd, Eastlake, offering loved ones an opportunity to pay their respects and share memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary Magdalene Church in her name.
Heddy Rieder will forever remain in our hearts, she was a beacon of love and light whose memory will be cherished by generations to come.
