Heidi Lynne Startz

WORCESTER - Heidi Startz, 61, of Worcester passed away on May 15, 2024, at UMass Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family and friends. Her passing followed a 7 year battle with Multiple Myeloma.
She was born on March 9, 1963, in New London, CT to Alice Startz. Heidi grew up in Mystic, CT and graduated from Robert E. Fitch High School in 1981. After high school she graduated early, with honors, from Bentley College earning a bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems and an associate degree in Management.
After college, she worked for Kodak in Rochester, NY and married her first love, Daniel DelVecchio of Milford, MA. Heidi then devoted her time to being a stay-at-home mom raising their two children, Bobby and Jenni in Grafton, MA. Heidi was motivated and passionate about her family. Whether an event was big or small, Heidi was always there to support her children.
Heidi did a multitude of activities that contributed to her community including being a member of the Grafton School Committee, assisting those with autism, and consistently volunteering her time.
As Heidi's children ventured into their teenage years, she began working for Worcester Polytechnic Institute as the Director of IT Budget and Operations where she stayed for over 15 years until she retired.
Heidi loved to travel, often venturing to national parks, beaches, and on Viking cruises. She helped her daughter Jenni get settled in Hong Kong for her semester abroad, and enjoyed European travels with her fiance, Geoffrey.
She is predeceased by her mother, Alice Startz.
Heidi is survived by her fiancé, Geoffrey Webb of Worcester, MA, her son, Robert DelVecchio of Worcester, MA, her daughter, Jenni DelVecchio of Midland, VA, her first husband, Daniel DelVecchio of Grafton, MA, and many, many friends.
Visitation will be held on May 19, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Steet Holden, MA. Her private burial will take place at the convenience of the family at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic, CT.
