Zoey Mercedes Startz, died on June 3, 2025, at the young age of 18. Born on December 13, 2006, in Rochester, Zoey was a vibrant spirit with an honest heart and a spark for life that inspired all who knew her.

She was currently taking online classes at Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School, where she had earned her graduation certificate, although she will not have the opportunity to walk with her class. Her family vacation to Universal Studios over the Christmas holiday brought her much happiness. When she was younger, she was a very active and energetic, especially when she had the opportunity to be out on the soccer field or camping with family.
Though Zoey faced challenges, particularly following the loss of her beloved mother, Jamie in 2023, she approached life with remarkable resilience. While she made some choices along the way that led her down difficult paths, Zoey's genuine spirit and great outlook on life remained shining attributes. Despite her trials, Zoey maintained an infectious energy and a profound love for the people in her life, especially her nurturing mother.
Zoey is survived by her dad, Jason Startz; brother Deven Startz; grandparents, Claire (Tracy) Hart, Jim and Lois Startz, and Guy Maglothin; uncle, Eric Brandon Hart; aunt and uncle, Sonja and Isley Maglothin.
