Helen V. Bala

Helen V. Bala (nee Sroka) of Maple Shade passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 15, 2025 at the age of 101, with her loving family by her side. Helen was born in Philadelphia on October 10, 1924 to the late J. and Veronica Sroka. She was a resident of Maple Shade for over 70 years. Helen formerly worked for the Social Security Administration, and was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church where she also enjoyed singing in the choir. Helen had many hobbies including playing the piano, gardening, reading and playing solotaire. She also took great pleasure in watching the Phillies and listening to Johnny Cash, but above all spending time with her family.

Beloved wife of the late Frank J. Bala, who passed away in 2002, loving mother of Barbara (Paul) Ceplenski, Karen (Robert) Locantore and Frances (Howard) Bennett, cherished grandmother of Laura, Allison, David, Nicholas and Jenna.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with her family on Tuesday October 21st, 10-11 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main Street, Maple Shade. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Interment will be in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers (due to cemetery restrictions), memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Hospice Gift Processing Center, PO Box 71425, Philadelphia, Pa. 19176-1425 of @samaritannj.org.
