Helen Louise Drumright Barnard, age 76, of Meadows of Dan, Virginia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at SOVAH Health Martinsville Hospital. She was born in Nashville, TN on January 29, 1949 to Ivan Burton Drumright and Betty Ralston.
Mrs. Barnard was a member of Risen Lord Catholic Church. She was a registered nurse for 45 years, having worked for 19 years at RJ Reynolds Memorial Hospital and over 20 years at Morehead Memorial Hospital. Helen loved her family and especially her grandkids.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years Gary Barnard of the home; one son James Barnard (Jennifer) of Stuart, VA; one daughter, Susan Parks (Ben) of Bristol, VA; three grandchildren, Nathan Parks, Emree Barnard, and Valley Barnard; one sister, Mary August (Mike); three brothers, Clay Ralston, Howard Ralston, and Lester Ralston; three sisters-in-law, Dot Dalton, Debbie Dehart, and Judy Barnard; one brother-in-law, Lesley Barnard, and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 18, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Risen Lord Catholic Church with Rev. Herman Katongola officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnard Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com
