Helen A. Oaks Bennett, 91 years of age, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025 at her home surrounded by family.
She was born August 10, 1933 to Joseph and Amanda (Powers) Oaks in Siler, Ky. Helen’s life revolved around her faith in God, her family and helping others. People often came to her for advice and support. She gave them an open heart, compassion, wisdom and understanding, offering prayer and guidance. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and often called to invite neighbors to share a meal.
Helen was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Jesse “Ed” Bennett, a daughter, Sharon Manning and a son, Glen Bennett; and a granddaughter Patricia “Trish" Bennett Wilson (Tommy), a grandson, Dennis R Bright II.
She is survived by 3 daughters Marietta Serwe {Jack}, Vicki Wyatt, {Gene}, Debra Bennett; and a son, Gary Bennett, (Evyonne). She had 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandsons. Helen is also survived by her dog and constant companion, Cooper. She will be so missed by everyone.
Visitation for Helen Bennett will be held from 2-4 pm on Sunday June 8, 2025, and on Monday June 9th from 12noon until the time of her funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home in Corbin, Kentucky.
Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Barton, Joe Schuppert, Derrick Bennett, Eric Baker, Greg Wyatt, and Phillip Cima. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Pierce and Frabrizio Cima.
