Helen Potts Bonds, 90, of Calhoun Falls, wife of the late William ‘Buzzard’ Bonds, died Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Emerald Gardens of Greenwood. She was born in Dillsboro, NC to the late Wiliam Wilkes and Julie B. Messer Potts.
Helen was a retired employee of the former Bigelow Sanford Company in Calhoun Falls. A devoted member of the Calhoun Falls Church of God, her faith was an important part of her life. She cherished moments spent with her loved ones, forming bonds that will forever be remembered.
In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Fay Bonds; and her siblings, Ruth Potts, Ralph Potts, Charles Potts, Earl Potts, Joe Potts, Robert ‘Bob’ Potts, Jay Lee Potts and Mary Sharpen.
She is survived by a brother, Kenneth Potts of Calhoun Falls; grandson, ‘John’ John Smith; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Jonathan Smith; one great-great grandchild, Rylan Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 10:00AM – 11:00AM, Friday, July 18, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home, Calhoun Falls Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM, Friday, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Latimer Cemetery.
