Helen J. Brett (nee Byrne) Age 89
Beloved wife of 67 years to the late William "Bill" Brett.
Devoted mother of Liz (Dan) Pufunt, Sue Enright, Patrick (fiancée Annabelle) Brett, Ellie (Mike) Ryan, Anne (Mike Culbertson) Brett, Kate (Pat) Coughlin, Michelle Brett and Mike (Kara Hoeger) Brett.
Proud Grandma of 24.
Cherished Great-Grandma of 11.
Adored aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Dear daughter of the late Luke and Ella Byrne.
Loving sister of Larry (Margaret) Byrne the late Mary (late Frank) Zieman and Brother-in-Law James (late Patricia) Brett.
Helen was born on February 12, 1935 in Chicago, to Luke and Ella (Foley) Byrne. Helen graduated from Longwood Academy and went on to earn her nursing degree from Little Company of Mary School of Nursing. Helen proudly worked at the hospital after graduation, and she worked as a nurse in various roles well into her 50s. While a nursing student, she began to date Bill.
She married Bill on February 23, 1957 at St. Margaret of Scotland Church. After a short time in St. Louis, they raised their family in Evergreen Park. Proud of her Irish heritage and humble roots, she devoted her life serving family, friends and faith. Helen kept the Poor Clare nuns actively engaged in praying for the special intentions she submitted and the prayer cards she mailed in support of loved ones and those for whom she cared.
Visitation Friday December 27th at 9:30 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 9525 S. Lawndale Avenue, Evergreen Park, IL, Mass of the Resurrection 11:00 a.m.
Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery
In lieu of flowers donations to Poor Clare Monastery, 12210 S Will Cook Road, Palos Park, IL 60464 would be appreciated.
