It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that we announce the passing of Helen A. Colosimo of Koppel. She was a beacon of kindness, and a true inspiration of a life well spent. She passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday April 5, 2025, at the age of 74 following a courageous eight-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Born November 26, 1950, in Oil City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Mary Tirakis Dunkle. She was the beloved wife of Philip "Blinky" Colosimo with whom she shared 30 years of marriage.

Helen chose to live her life through acts of generosity and kindness and providing for those around her. She taught at East Forest School District for 33 and a half years as a reading specialist amongst other duties. She enjoyed her retirement for almost 20 years especially her yearly trip to Broadway in NYC with her friends. Her life journey was one marked by love, compassion and unwavering faith in God. She was a devoted member of the Divine Grace Parish Holy Redeemer Church in Ellwood City. She enjoyed gardening and cooking delicious food, as most of you know, from the photos that Phil posted. Helen was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She lived her life with unwavering optimism and a deep love of family. She was the best bonus mom to Kelsey (Mark Ahern) Colosimo whom she loved and treated as her own. She was the best "yia-yia" to her grandson Michael who was her pride and joy and was the best "thea" to her neighbor Kate Henderson and her family. She will be missed dearly.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Dorothy "Dottie" and William Dunkle.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday April 9, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Funeral Services will be held at the Divine Grace Parish Holy Redeemer Church on Thursday April 10, 2025, at 11:00 am with Father Joseph Freedy officiating.

Although Helen is gone, she will live in our hearts forever. She was a beloved soul who touched many lives. To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die, and the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take.

The family would like to thank Lisa, Dr. Boison, and all the staff at UPMC Passavant for their love and dedication to Helen over the years.
