Louise Conway, 94, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. She was born December 5, 1929, in Russellville, Arkansas, to John and Edna Vinson Smith. A devoted homemaker, Louise found her greatest joy in her role as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Her deep faith guided her life, and she was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Benton. She cherished time spent reading, quilting, making ceramic dolls, gardening, and sewing.
Louise or "Sister" to her family, was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Frank Conway; her first husband of 43 years, Lawrence Sudmeyer; her second husband, John Shew; her parents; her sisters, Sue Martin and Betty Brown; and her brothers, Johnny and Jimmy Smith.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Brenda Goines, and her husband Wayne, of Benton; her grandchildren, Jason Goines and his wife Nikki, and Jesse Goines, all of Benton; and her great-grandchildren, Lauren Robinson and husband Josh, Grayson Goines and wife Krista, Caleb Goines, and Jacie Goines, also all of Benton. Louise was blessed with two great-great-grandchildren, Denver Robinson and Amelia Robinson, of Benton. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Smith, and her sister, Shirley Smith, both of Russellville, as well as her sisters-in-law, Janet Smith and Linda Smith.
A funeral service honoring Louise's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at East Point Cemetery, with Al Ray Taylor officiating. Cremation arrangements by the J. Herman Humphrey Dignity Cremation Center, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Point Cemetery or the Christian Community Care Clinic, 220 W. South Street, Benton, AR 72015.
