Mrs. Helen Campbell DeVaney, age 93, a resident of Gallatin, Tennessee, formerly of Rockwood, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Diversicare of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She was born November 4, 1931, in Altro in Breathitt County, Kentucky. During her early years she would have to cross a swinging bridge over the Kentucky River to attend Grammer School. During her High School years, she left school for a period of time to care for her Mother who was battling cancer. She later returned to High School where she graduated with honors, and was inducted into the National Honors Society. One of the most important dates of her life was the day that she became a Christian on October 15, 1950. She was a longtime member of the South Harriman Church of God where she served as the Piano and Organ player and Church Clerk for many years. She was also an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hon. Pearl Campbell, who served as the County Judge in Breathitt County, Kentucky, and Salie Ann Combs Campbell; husband, Robert DeVaney; sisters, Lily Campbell, Ada Banks, Bertha Gabbard; and brothers, Charles Campbell, William Campbell, and Hobart Campbell. Survivors include:

Daughter: Terri Lynn DeVaney of Oak Ridge, TN
Grandchildren: Chris DeVaney of Nashville, TN
Alec DeVaney of Las Vegas, NV
Brother: Joe Campbell (Rose) of Pensacola, FL
Sister-in-law & Brothers-in-law: Louise & Robert Crabtree of Rockwood, TN
Howard DeVaney of Rockwood, TN
And several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary. Funeral services will follow on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Rev. Ottis Ball officiating. Committal services and interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, Tennessee. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood, Tennessee is serving the family of Mrs. Helen Campbell DeVaney.
