MRS. HELEN EVANGELINE GODBOLD WILLIAMS was born on Tuesday, December 21, 1943, in Marion, South Carolina to both the late Mr. Eddie Leroy Godbold and Mrs. Wilhelmina Grice Godbold.
She was an honor student at Terrell's Bay High School in Centenary, South Carolina. After graduating, she attended South Carolina State College where she received a degree in English. Mrs. Helen was an outstanding educator in the state of South Carolina as well as Thomson, Georgia as she sat on the Board of Teaching. She served in many of the auxiliaries and or capacities at Springfield Baptist Church, Thomson, Georgia and within the community itself: Springfield Baptist Church Mass Choir, James Isom Sanctuary Choir, Discipleship Ministry (Baptism, New Membership), Missionary Ministry, Choral Speaking Ministry (Co-Laborer), Tutorial Ministry, Youth & Children Oratorical, Executive Administrator for the Church Community, Non-Profit Ministry (Imani), DFAC Board and Tri-County Retired Educators Association.
On Friday morning, October 11, 2024, Mrs. Helen Evangeline Godbold Williams was called home to be with her Lord and Savior. Our beloved Helen Williams was many things to many people, but most of all, she was a ray of light. In addition to her loving parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Willie L. Williams; a daughter, Turquoise Williams; five brothers and a brother-in-law. She leaves to cherish her memory: a sister, Norma Israel of Florence, South Carolina; a grandson, Marquavious A. Williams of Thomson, Georgia; a special niece, Jackie Ingram of Warner Robins, GA; a host of additional nieces, a nephew, other relatives, several colleagues, a plethora of students, her church family, and many great friends.
