Helen Gregory, age 92, passed away March 9th, 2023 at Republic Nursing and Rehab in Republic, Missouri of natural causes.
Helen was born Marie Helen Brigida Gonzales Chavez on October 8th, 1930 to Francisco Jimenez Chavez and Ynes Gonzales Chavez in San Antonio, Texas. She had 7 brothers and sisters. She graduated with honors from Draughon's Business College and would eventually become a legal secretary for a well-known law firm and lawyer in San Antonio, Texas.
She lived in San Antonio, Texas until approximately 1962, moving to Phoenix, Arizona with her then husband Jay Dee Gregory. She lived a short time in Bullhead City, Arizona in the early 1980's, moving back to Phoenix, Arizona until she would eventually move to Branson, Missouri in 2013 to be close to family.
Helen Gregory was a kind, generous, and loving soul who loved her children and family above all things. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and believed she should trust in God always. She was an avid seamstress who made clothes for all her children. She also loved crocheting, crafting, thrifting, cooking for family and friends, and generally living a full and meaningful life. She also loved all her puppies over the years, most recently her puppy Chiquita.
She is survived by her children; Phyllis Farmer, Coleen Pontejos, and Cobie Gregory; Grandchildren Alec Garcia, Adrian Garcia, Gregory Pontejos, Austin Janisch, Matteson Gregory, Elena Gregory-Cisneros, Danielle Gregory, Dominic Gregory, and Isabella Gregory-Cisneros. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother Ynes Chavez and father Francisco Chavez, her sister Angeline Chavez, and her brothers Alexander Chavez, and Alfredo (Freddie) Chavez.
Services will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023 with her final resting place in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.
