Helen Jacono

Helen Jacono, age 92, of Middletown, DE passed away peacefully at her home, with family by her side.
Born in Hamilton, Scotland, daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes (Mungall) Dell, Helen immigrated to New York City at the age of 22. Later she moved to Wilmington, DE, and was hired at DuPont where she met her husband of 45 years, Lou. Shortly after their marriage, Helen and Lou settled in Bear, Delaware where they raised their family of six children. In their later years, they moved into the house they lovingly built together in Middletown DE.
Helen cherished her large family and took every opportunity to spend time with them. The many holiday gatherings brought her the greatest joy. She and Lou also loved to travel and Helen enjoyed many trips back to Scotland to visit her extended family there. She was a talented and creative gardener who spent countless hours tending to her beautiful gardens. Helen loved all animals, and had many cherished pets throughout her life. Helen had a vibrant personality, and was always fun to be with. She would light up any room with her endless energy, warm smile, infectious laugh and quick wit.
She is survived by her children, Steve, Bruce (Jennifer), Eric, Colette, and Carla Dabundo (Ken); her grandchildren, Tony (Stephanie), Cody, Tristan, Jaclyn, Adam (Kristin), and KJ (Jo); her great-grandchildren, Natalie, Wyatt, Alden, and Chad; her siblings in Scotland, Vicky, Julian, and Victor; her Goddaughter, Julie; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and members of her extended family.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Louis; her son, Mark; and her brother, Robert.
A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held at All Saints Cemetery.
