Helen Nancy Kumrow

Helen Nancy Kumrow joined her heavenly father and family on August 18, 2023. Helen was born on February 4,1942 in a Salvation Army Hospital in Wauwatosa, WI to Dorothy (Kumrow) Schimmer, but she was raised by her grandmother, Ella Kumrow and her family. Helen attended Appleton West High School and graduated in 1960. Due to a good friend, Clarence Sternhagen, Helen landed a job at Prudential Insurance Company, completing 34 years of service and retiring at the age of 52 in 1994. In 1980 she married Norbert (Nubbs) Holewinski. They divorced in 1987 but Nubbs found his way back to her in 1994 and they were together until he passed away on April 18, 2016.
Helen enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, making crafts, going on bus trips, playing bingo and slots with Nubbs.
Helen is survived by her stepdaughter Kim (David) Thompson, stepson Mark Holewinski and friend Jeanette, 5 step-grandchildren, 9 step-great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Sandee Holewinski, brother-in-law Kenneth Holewinski, step-nieces, nephews and cousins (especially Cheryl Verhagen) and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her sweetheart Nubbs Holewinski, her mother Dorothy and step-father Oliver Schimmer, grandparents Arthur and Ella Kumrow; step-daughter and son-in-law Gail and Ben Barker; sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Pontow, Mary Lou Holewinski and Judy Holewinski; brothers-in-law: Jerome Holewinski, Robert Holewinski and Norman Pontow; aunts and uncles: Milton Kumrow, Arthur Kumrow, Jr., Alvin and Hazel Luniak, Eileen and William Verhagen, Herbert and Betty Kumrow, other great-aunts and uncles and cousins.
Services will be held at 11 AM at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 473 Seventh Street, Menasha, WI 54952 with Pastor David Skarsten officiating on Friday, August 25, 2023. Visitation will begin at 9 AM until the time of service followed by burial at Appleton Highland Memorial Cemetery.
