Helen Lundgren Obituary

Susi passed away peacefully at her home in Mazatlan, Mexico on January 25, 2025 at the age of 97.
Helen (Susi) Lundgren was born March 22, 1927 to Erni and Herman Lenke in Spokane, Wa. She had one brother, William Lenke. Susi graduated from North Central High in 1945. She attended WSU and majored in math. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and assisted foreign exchange students adapt to university life in America.
She married Robert W. Puckett in 1948 and they had two children, Rebecca L. and Robert L. They moved to Boise in 1959 and later divorced in 1966.
Her passions were teaching swimming, volunteering, and cooking. She made great cream puffs and popovers. She was a Red Cross certified swimming and water safety instructor. During WWII she taught naval cadets at Fairchild AFB and Gonzaga Univ. and volunteered at the YMCA. She worked at Boise Cascade as a sales analyst and as a statistician. She taught swimming and water safety at private pools at 7 AM before work, on her lunch hour, and again after work. She was the first Swimming Program Director at Crane Creek CC.
Susi married Leonard C. Lundgren in 1972, and she taught her "Charlie" how to swim. They built a pool in their backyard where she taught generations of families to swim. They built a successful Shaklee Business, and she attributed her long life to her Shaklee food supplements. They bought a condo in Mazatlan in 1994 where she volunteered many hours at the Salvation Army Children's Orphanage and hosted an annual pool party and BBQ for the 30+ children with the help of her Playa Escondida friends. She moved to her condo permanently with her son, Rob, in 2020. Beccie and her husband, Mike, had moved to Mazatlan permanently in 2018, so Rob and Beccie were blessed to be with their mom when she passed.
Susi was a charter and 35 year member of the Morrison Center Auxiliary, 61 year member of the Red Cross, 71 year member of PEO, Idaho Statesman Distinguished Citizen in 1983, on the Ada Co. Safety Committee, Junior Achievement advisor, founding member of the Idaho Sailing and Canoeing Asso., and Assistance League volunteer. She was a life-long Lutheran. Her favorite hymns were Thine The Amen, Thine The Praise, Be Not Afraid, and How Great Thou Art. She loved everyone, especially children, hummingbirds, and being in the sun.
Susi is survived by her daughter, Beccie (Mike) McHale, her son, Rob (Lupita) Puckett, Lupita's children, Joaguin and Violeta, step-children, Sarge Lundgren, Pam (Don) Burden, Beth (Rick) Kent, her grandsons, Skip Puckett, Nic (Jessica) Puckett, Jessica's children, Kobe and Kade, and great grandchildren, Taven, Kylee, and Lucy Piper Puckett.
Susi is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Bill, her husband, Len, and her beloved grandson, Kai Puckett.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 18 at 2:00 at Friendship Celebration Lutheran Church 765 E. Chinden Blvd. Boise 83713
