Helen Mayson Obituary
Helen Grace Hart Mayson, 89, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024. She was born in Spartanburg on July 11, 1935 to the late Grace Littlejohn and Charles Millard Hart and was the widow of Col. Elford Morgan Mayson.
A graduate of Randolf-Macon Women’s College, she went on to become a CPA. Helen was a devoted member of First Baptist Spartanburg, serving on the Finance Team and as Adult Sunday School Class teacher. She was a member and past President of the Spartanburg Garden Club and board member on various charitable organizations, including the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by her children, Charles Brooks Mayson of Spartanburg, Morgan Hart Mayson (Angela) of Columbia, SC, and Victoria Hart Mayson Mastrovito (Nick) of Floyd, VA; grandchildren, Blake Charles Elder, Dane Mayson Elder, Charles Brooks Mayson, Alexis Morgan Mayson, and Kyle Hampton Mayson; and great-grandchildren, Arlen Elder and Tovi Elder. She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Victoria Hart.
Visitation will be 12:00-1:00pm on Thursday, August 29, 2024 in the Parlor at First Baptist Spartanburg, 250 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services will follow in the Davis Chapel at 1:00pm, conducted by Rev. Dr. Charles Mayson.
In honor of Helen, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Spartanburg.
