~Obituary lovingly written by the family of Helen Ruth Miles~
Helen Ruth (Pogue) Miles, age 94 of Stella, Missouri, entered into rest at 6:50 pm, November 11, 2023, at her home in Stella, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born on August 21, 1929, in Stella, Missouri, to Frank and Hattie (Sanders) Pogue. She was born during the crash of '29'. When she was eight years old, her folks moved to Colorado, Wiley and Lamar area so her dad could find work. They lived there until Helen's junior high, which at that time, the family moved back to Stella, to the old family farm that was homesteaded by her great grandparents. Helen graduated from Stella High School in 1949. On December 22, 1949, she married the love of her life, James 'Jim' Miles in Los Angelas, California. After moving to Missouri from California to take care of her mom, Hattie. Helen worked at Cardwell Memorial Hospital in housekeeping from 1969 until 1979, when she then went to work at Beverly Healthcare in Neosho until it closed in 2003. Helen accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of sixteen in Lamar, Colorado. Her love of God and His wisdom and protection, kept her out of a lot of trouble. After the family moved back to Stella, the family attended Stella Baptist Church and she was baptized at the creek in Stella. She then helped in the church by teaching the four and five year olds for a time. Helen learned to play the guitar and loved to sing and play. Helen will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her three children, Linda Takach and husband, Andrew 'Mike' Takach of Carthage, Missouri, Larry Miles and wife, Cheryl of Stella, Missouri and LaMelia Beckett and husband, William 'Bill' Beckett of Stella, Missouri; twelve grandkids, twenty-five great grandkids, twenty-one great-great grandkids, with one on the way. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, Frank and Hattie Pogue; brothers, Kenneth and Leonard Pogue; sister, Maxine Smith and grandson, Adam Wayne Miles. Mom's own words, 'God has been good to me and blessed me with a wonderful husband and three wonderful children'.
