Coats, NC: Mrs. Helen Sears Norris, age 87, of Coats, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 11, 2023. She passed away in the comfort of her home in Coats surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Coats, NC to the late Roy and Ada Sears. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Norris. Also preceding her in death was her brother Carlie Sears. Funeral Services will be held-11:00 AM Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Coats Community Church. Officiating will be Pastor Chuck Jones. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens in Dunn, NC.
Left to cherish her memory are her 3 beloved children, Randy Pope and wife Bonnie of Coats, Karen Ferguson and husband Danny of Coats, and Shelia Aldridge and husband John of Castle Hayne. Stepchildren include the late Diane Stewart and her husband Joey. The other stepchildren are Brenda Tart, Clay Norris, and his wife Patti. One of her blessings is having 6 grandchildren: Bradley Pope and his wife Abby, Mitch Ferguson and his wife Brooke, Britton Creech and his wife Kimberly, Ryan Pope and his wife Jamie, Jon Ferguson and his wife Ashley, as well as Heather Baumhauer and her husband Ian, and 7 step-grandchildren. She also had 13 great-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren also, with many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Coats Community Church from 10:00 to 10:45 am on June 13, 2023, before the service. Rev. Chuck Jones will be officiating the service, which will conclude with a burial at Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn.
Helen graduated from Coats High School in 1954 and one of her cherished memories is playing basketball during her time there. She is remembered by many from her time working at Campbell University Oasis Grill. She was a Christian and loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed going out to eat and shopping with her friends.
