Helen Parsons Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home - Warrensburg on Jan. 5, 2026.
Helen Irene (Iiams) Parsons, 97, Centerview, passed away Friday January 2, 2026 at WMMC hospital in Warrensburg, Mo. Helen was born July 8,1928 to Orville Ozro Iiams and Florence Ann (Bodenhamer) Iiams. She spent her entire life in Johnson county and attended the Greendoor one room school house.

She was united in marriage to William (Bill) Wilbur Parsons, Sr. on June 18,1946 in Sapulpa,Oklahoma.

From their loving marriage four children were born Linda Sue, William Wilbur Jr, Larry Thomas and Deborah Jean.

Helen loved a quiet, simple farm life spending many years farming alongside Bill and Larry. They were proud of their dairy cows, chickens, large garden and always lending a helping hand to neighbors. Helen often stated that she "bucked more square bales than most grown men". Bill and Helen often spent their Saturday nights dancing at the American Legion. Stories and recipes of her incredible homemade egg noodles, fried chicken, cobblers and salmon patties will be passed down for generations. After 55 years of marriage, Bill passed in 2001. She then preferred a life of solitude and was content watching bull riding and game shows for most of her days. Family was Helen's proudest accomplishment. Mother of four, grandmother to eight, great-grandmother to ten and great-great grandmother to twelve.

Helen is survived by her children William W. Parsons Jr. (Lillian) Southport NC, Larry Parsons, Centerview Mo., Debbie Bracken (Jerry) Centerview Mo., son-in-law Arthur Hockersmith, Sedalia Mo.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; daughter, Linda Hockersmith; her brothers, Willie and Tommy; and many brothers/sisters-in-law.

Helen spent the last year at Country Club Care Center. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful people that made her past year comfortable.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Sweeney-Phillisp & Holdren Funeral Home with Lawrence Adams officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Bracken, Tyler Jackson, Brian Parsons, Terry Clark, Jason Parsons, and Lance Parsons.
