Mrs. Patrick was born on November 23, 1925, in Albany, Georgia, to Ralph H. Johnson and Estelle Cole Johnson. Helen was the epitome of a gracious Southern woman, always well dressed, proper and classy. She was always helping others and even received the Golden Deed Award from the local Exchange Club. In 2022, Helen was honored as the Grand Marshal of the Omega Pepper Festival.
Next to her faith, Mrs. Helen's family was very important. She and Gibbs were married 65 wonderful years and raised four children, and that was the beginning of a rich legacy filled with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 1947, they spent their honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. They enjoyed spending their anniversary at the same hotel in the same room that they honeymooned in for sixty years. The love these two shared was unmatched; they were truly the light in each other's eyes! Together, they enjoyed working in their yard and cultivating beautiful hydrangea shrubs. These flowers were so big and beautiful that people driving by would stop to take pictures.
Mrs. Helen was preceded in death by her son Stan Patrick, grandson Clarke Patrick, two sisters: Peggy Posnick and Nellie Shanks, and two brothers: Maxi and Herbert Johnson. To all the family, I know that no words will ease your pain but know that Ms. Helen touched the lives of every person she met. Her legacy of faith and love for others will continue to live on through eternity. I am so blessed to be her cousin, but to have actually had the chance to have a close relationship with her when I moved to Omega after my mother died. She was so kind and sweet. My prayers are with you all.
