Helen W. Piston

Helen Rosalind Walter Piston, age 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Abington Hospital.
Born January 23, 1927, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Ethel Walter (nee Moffitt) and Albert Sellers Walter.
Helen graduated from Olney High School in January 1945. During her lifetime, she worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, J Lewis Armstrong, the Philadelphia Securities Company, and Sears Roebuck and Company where she worked in the shipping department and later retired.
She married Julius Gauer Piston on July 3, 1948. They were married 73 years until his death on January 26, 2022. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Helen was a long-time resident of the Olney section of Philadelphia until she and her family moved to Horsham Township in 1998.
She was a long-time member of Bethel Temple (now Bethel Philadelphia Mills) Church. She served the Lord there for many years playing the piano and teaching Sunday School.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy L. Piston, a son Robert W. Piston, MD (Kathy, D.O.), five grandchildren – Robert Jr, Michael, Rebecca, Steven, and Hannah Piston, and a nephew Robert Shubrick (Angela). She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Albert S. Walter, Jr., and a nephew Richard Shubrick.
