Helen N. Stefanka

Helen N. Stefanka, age 93, of Cuyahoga Falls passed away October 2, 2022.
She was preceded in death by husband Frank of 58 years, son-in-law John L. Doulilis and brother, Thomas A. Sawyer.
Survived by daughters Janice Doulilis, Jacquelyn Stefanka (Mike Hammer), sister-in-law Gail Sawyer, brothers-in-law Joseph (Verona) Stefanka and Steve Streharsky; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Born in Everett, Washington, Helen attended the University of Washington until her marriage. She worked as a bookkeeper and was fond of saying "I may not remember your name but I will remember your phone number". Helen and her husband Frank enjoyed hiking, gardening and traveled to most of the U.S. and Canada. Travel highlights outside the U.S. included the Great Wall of China, the Amazon Jungle and the Mayan Pyramids. An avid card player of duplicate bridge and cribbage, Helen also enjoyed collecting plates, glassware and antiques.
Helen was intensely interested in history and genealogy. She was a member of the Cuyahoga Falls and Summit County Historical Societies, Mayflower Society, DAR and the Pilgrim John Howland Society.
Throughout the years Helen was steadfast in her faith. She was looking forward to asking God about the black holes in space.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Western Reserve (Medina County).
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to a 5 PM memorial service on Wednesday October 12, 2022 at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society, Horses of Hope/ Caballos de Esperanza Inc. (Puerto Rico) or your favorite charity.
