Memorial Video:
Helen Pirie Wilson passed away unexpectedly in her South Hampton residence on 10/01/2024 at the age of 64. Her loved ones are shocked and saddened by this loss, and her absence has been and will continue to be felt deeply by all who have had the privilege to know her.
Helen was born in Beth Page, New York on 2/19/1960 to parents Bruce Crawford Wilson and Sarah Smart Wilson. Her intelligent and inquisitive nature developed when she attended Birch Lane Elementary School in her early years. She grew up moving across New York state from Massapequa to Yulan before her family settled in Scarsdale (Edgemont), New York. It was here that she attended Seely Place Elementary, Edgemont Junior High and Edgemont High School. Helen was a memorable student, a bright presence in many of her classmates' lives, and a good friend.
Helen graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, which sparked a lifelong love for the town and community. Whether a resident at the Pink Palace or off-campus, Helen was active in Skidmore life while she was there and when she studied abroad in France. She then worked for Linda Horn Antiques until she went on to study at the School of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University, where she cultivated her passion for landscaping and outdoor spaces. Helen's creative spark could be felt in any garden she touched.
Helen spent much of her adult life as a successful researcher and executive assistant for Saratoga Partners on Madison Avenue in Manhattan. The last years of her life were spent comfortably living between her apartment on 34th street and her South Hampton residence. Helen was an adventurer and traveled extensively. She was an artist and brought that creativity to all that she did. Helen was known for her vivacious sense of humor, quick wit, free spirit, and the deep love she had for those she considered in her inner circle.
Helen was preceded in death by her father Bruce Crawford Wilson, sister Leslie Wilson, and beloved cats Laurence and Sweet Pea.
She is survived by her significant other, Anthony Gentile, mother, Sarah Smart Wilson, sister, Kimberlie Wilson and niece, Jasmine Hyman.
The family has asked instead of sending flowers, to donate to the ASPCA https://www.ASPCA.org/ways-to-give to honor her love of animals.
The funeral services will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 3:00pm EST. They will at Brockett Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Hampton Road, Southampton, NY 11968, Phone: (631) 283-0822, www.brockettfuneralhome.com
