A visitation will be held at First Christian Church on Sunday, August 10th from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Helene was born September 16, 1957, and passed away August 2, 2025, at the age of 67. She enjoyed playing softball and basketball in high school and graduated from Northwestern State University before beginning her career as a nursing home administrator. She worked in Louisiana for a while but spent most of her career in Mississippi before retiring in December 2024. Her faith was very important, and she wrote daily devotions to share with others. Helene was a member of First Christian Church in Leesville and Covenant Christian Church in Byram, Mississippi. Her pets held a very special place in her heart, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Helene was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Gerda Youngblood. Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Marianne Schoonover of Lafayette, LA and Linda Dowden of Florien, LA; nieces and nephews, Stasha Youngblood, Nelson Chance (Brittney), Kati Dowden Holman (William), and William Dowden IV; great-nieces and nephews, Brandon Smallwood, Ryan Smallwood, Ariana Stafford, and Sophia Smith; special friends, Norlayn Perkins; and extended family members and friends.
