Mrs. Hellon White, 79, of Dobson, NC passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on January 21st, 2026. Hellon was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished Mema. Her life was defined by generosity, hard work, and a deep desire to care for others. She spent many years working at Washington Mills and Tultex. She later served as a Child Nutrition Manager at White Plains Elementary and North Surry High School, a role that perfectly matched her heart. She found true joy in feeding children and making sure no one ever went without a good meal. Cooking and catering were not just skills for her, they were expressions of love. If you were ever in her presence, you were likely fed. Hellon was a loyal and faithful member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church, seldom missing a service until health challenges later in life. Her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. She was most at peace when surrounded by family, friends, laughter, and food shared around a supper table. She also loved traveling, always enjoying the experience of seeing new places and making memories along the way. Above all, Hellon was one of the most giving people you could know. She never hesitated to help, to serve, or to make sure everyone else was taken care of before thinking of herself. Hellon was preceded in death by her mother and father, Charlie and Novellie Stokes; siblings Bobby Dobbins, Lola Mae Dollar, Buddy Dobbins, Brenda Garvin, Mary Holland, and LeDean Childress. Hellon is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bernays; her three sons, Walter (Betsy), Jerry (Sheila), and Matthew (Toby). She was also blessed with multiple grandchildren, Kayla, Jonathon, Faith, Makenzie, Tate, and Lexi. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her legacy lives on in the countless lives she loved, nourished, and supported. The family would like to express gratitude to her special friends and caregivers at PruittHealth in Elkin, NC. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Hellon’s memory to the Dobson Elementary School Backpack Program. This program provides meals for needy families.
