Obituary of Henrietta Jane McCarty

Henrietta Jane McCarty, 81, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, at Lopatcong Care Center.

Henrietta was born on January 14, 1944, in Washington, New Jersey, to the late Betsy and Charles McCarty. She grew up in Washington and attended Washington High School. After the loss of her mother at a young age, Henrietta selflessly left school to work and help support her family-a reflection of the devotion and strength that would define her life.

Henrietta was first married and became the proud mother of two daughters, Shelly and Linda. Though that marriage later ended, she eventually found lasting love with the late Richard Conklin, with whom she shared more than 25 years. Together, they welcomed a daughter, Brenda.

A loving and devoted mother, Henrietta adored her children and grandchildren and was always there for them throughout their lives. Her family often sought her guidance and advice, knowing she would "tell it like it is." Known for her loud, outgoing personality and big heart, she was lovingly described as the "glue" that held the family together.

Henrietta found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved sitting outside, soaking up the warm sun, and watching the world go by from her porch. Afternoons often found her watching her favorite soap operas, especially General Hospital, or enjoying an old western movie. A true football fan, she never missed a chance to watch a game. She also enjoyed playing handheld games like Yahtzee and poker.

Henrietta is survived by her daughters, Shelly Rojas, Linda Tyrrell, and Brenda Nurov; her grandchildren, Joshua Rivera, Thomas Meshach (and his fiancée, Lauren Kiemaier), Kayla Daskalakes, Elliot Rojas, Nekruz Norov, Jovid Norov, and Kevin Jarkovsky; her great-grandchildren, Chase, Carter, Arianna, and Jace; her great-grandson, Geovanni; her brother, Michael McCarty; and her sister, Cynthia Rosado.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Conklin; her parents, Betsy and Charles McCarty; her brother, Frank "Peanut" McCarty; and her sisters, Ethel June Wient and Eunice Walters.

Family and friends are welcome to attend visitation on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Knoll DeVoe Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 142 West Washington Avenue, Washington, New Jersey 07882. Henrietta will be laid to rest at Musconetcong Valley Cemetery in a private service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to help cover final expenses may be made out to Thomas Meshach.

So sorry to read this praying for all her family for comfort and peace. Henrietta, Cora, Linda, and I used to walk to school together. She was a great and caring person and lots of fun. Again, I am sorry for your loss
