Henrietta Regina Steinhofer, 96, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023.
Henrietta was born on November 14, 1926 in New Carlisle to the late John W. and Mary R. (Jasinski) Staszewski. On October 21, 1950, Henrietta married the love of her life, Martin A. Steinhofer, he preceded her in death in 2013. She was also preceded in death by their son, Phillip C. Steinhofer; 5 Sisters; and 4 Brothers.
Left to cherish the memory of Henrietta are her children, Martin (Clodine) Steinhofer, Linda (Dan) Lawecki, Patrick (Susan) Steinhofer; grandchildren, Kyle (Denise) Jakubowicz, Matthew (Melissa) Jakubowicz, Ashley Steinhofer, Taylor (Muffi) Steinhofer; great-grandsons, Mason & Connor Jakubowicz; and a sister, Geraldine Rothballer.
Henrietta was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, Calvert Rod & Gun Club Women's Auxiliary, Friends of the Library, and volunteered for over 25 years for the Western Ave Library Branch. Henrietta was a devout Catholic whose faith was very important to her. She volunteered for many church activities and fundraisers. Henrietta helped in community fundraisers as well. She worked for the St. Joseph County voting polls, worked at Harrison and Navarre Elementary Schools in the Remedial Reading Class, as well as assisting teachers with extracurricular activities.
Henrietta was devoted to her family. She was a meticulous planner who not only kept her own families' funds balanced, she also assisted her siblings. She liked watching sports with her husband, creating personalized cards, and was an avid reader. Henrietta was an excellent cook and baker, often donating her baked goods to sales. She enjoyed working outdoors and her rose garden. Family trips and events were her most enjoyable times.
Visitation will be from 4:00pm-7:00pm, with a Rosary being prayed at 4:00pm on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at St. Joseph Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Parish or charity of donor's choice. Online condolences can be made at sjfh.net.
