Peter "Pete" Edward Steinhofer III
Date Of Birth: 08/25/1954
Date of Death: 07/23/2024
Peter Edward Steinhofer III, of Happy Valley, Oregon, was suddenly called to his eternal rest on July 23, 2024, leaving an ache in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He was the beloved husband of Brenda Bissett-Steinhofer and the son of the late Peter and Kathleen "Kean" (Hatch) Steinhofer Jr. of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, with whom he shared a heartfelt connection filled with cherished visits, family dinners, and laughter.
Pete was a lovable presence, known by the affectionate nickname "Crazy Wolf" to his family, friends, and community of radio listeners. This endearing moniker was more than just a name; it was a symbol of the joy and kindness he brought to everyone around him, a gentle reminder of his unique charm and how he could light up a room or the radio with his smile and voice.
After graduating from Archbishop John Carroll High School in Radnor, PA, Pete headed to Washington D.C. to prepare for his lifelong dream as a radio host and personality. Under the name Pete Michaels, he entertained listeners in Syracuse, Philadelphia, Houston, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and Portland.
A lifelong baseball fan, Pete was offered a communications role with the Pittsburgh Pirates farm team organization. Instead, as a lover of the iconic Sound of Philly Soul, Pete accepted a radio position in Philadelphia. He loved the soulful rhythms of the 70s, the infectious beats of the 80s, and the nostalgic anthems of the 90s. Pete also volunteered as an EMT and ambulance driver.
Pete and his wife, Brenda, hosted a radio show for over a decade, broadcasting their love story with humor and affection over the airwaves. Their names were always uttered together, Pete & Brenda, never apart, like a refrain in a song. They met in 1984 as volunteers at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center Pediatric Oncology Division.
Along with Brenda, his loving wife of 37 years, Pete is survived by his brother, Ken Steinhofer (Carolyn); his sister, Sharon Steinhofer; and his sister-in-law, Lauren Campbell. Pete was the cherished uncle of Colin (Paula), Candace (Clark), Katrina, and two beautiful great-nieces, Clara and Riley. Also remembered with love are his grandparents, Peter and Agnes Steinhofer Sr., and Harry and Catherine Hatch.
Pete shared a connection with his late in-laws, William "Bill" Bissett and Clara Bissett, that was both loving and filled with laughter. Pete was also a favorite of his late brother-in-laws, David Bissett (Peter), and James "Jim" Campbell. Pete adored his aunts and uncles and was surrounded by a loving family of cousins, who were held dear and shared in his joyful spirit.
Pete considered his many radio colleagues and good neighbors to be like family. Whether around the neighborhood, the grocery store, or any place he traveled, Pete knew people by name, remembered their names and their life stories, and knew to inquire about a loved one or pet by name. Much of his radio work has been archived by friends and inspired future broadcasters who enjoyed listening to him.
"Pete was a good, down-to-earth man whose selflessness and humility knew no bounds. He made his wife's dreams come true with quiet dedication and left everyone who spent time with him feeling cherished and special."
