Edward John Steinhofer, age 79 of Elkhart, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital on March 21, 2024. Ed was born December 8, 1944, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Frank M. and Lucille J. Steinhofer. Following high school, Ed enlisted in the US Navy where he served honorably during the Vietnam War. On October 21, 1991, he married Linda Ziegert in South Bend. They celebrated over 32 years of marriage.
Linda survives, with her 3 children and Ed's 4 children, 47 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and his brother Frank Steinhofer.
Funeral services will be private. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with his care.
Ed's career as a welder spanned over four decades with AM General and later at MORryde of Elkhart, where his commitment and expertise were greatly valued.
In retirement, Ed embraced the simple joys of life. He enjoyed spending time in nature's beauty fishing and caddying on the golf course, and the thrill of discovering hidden treasures while collecting antiques. Ed's fascination with antiques extended beyond collecting; he avidly watched television shows about them, finding joy in learning about their history and craftsmanship. He also enjoyed spending time playing BINGO with his wife, Linda.
A man of faith, Ed was a longtime member of the World Harvest Church of and a proud member of the Eagles Lodge #435 of South Bend.
